Social Media

 Social media strategies:

  • Engagement
  • Storytelling
  • Contextualize

In social media, it is important that in the industry celebrities, singers, artists etc create posts that engage their audiences, tell a story and contextualize what it is they are doing. For example I have done this:

For example, if my target audience are interested in travel then these photos would definitely engage them as they are interested in seeing locations. These photos also tell the story of the type of lifestyle in Venice and the context would be in the caption where I may add the location or the date and a short line about what I may have felt in the moment that I took this photo.

 Richard Dyer

Richard Dyer's theory is that a star is created (constructed) out of music videos, performances and media appearances rather than being a real person.

A star is a commoditiy that is produced and consumed on the "strength of their meanings".

He believes that a star such as billie Eilish or Taylor Swift has to depend on subsidiary media. For example TV, radio, internet which builds an image or an identity or brand for themselves to specifically target an audience.

Iconic Imagery = The use of a USP (Unique selling Point) easily associate with a star such as Post Malone and his unique facial appearance.

Star as an ideology = Example, spice girls represent the power of girls and friendship.

Post malone is a very popular singer of Hip Hop Rap and his USP is his clearly unique appearance of lots of tatoos. He uses his social media such as instagram and twitter where he posts lots of photos of him in his life but his appearances is so unique that is targets the audience especially young teens who are looking for a lot of insparation.
